MiFare card and tag

 MiFare is the most popular RFID system, as more than 70% RFID in the world is based on MiFare technology. MiFare cards are produced by NXP Semiconductors. MiFare is a contactless chipcard, and conforms to ISO 7816 and ISO 14443A standards as well. The reading distance ranges from 5 cm to 10 cm, and the operating frequency is 13,56 MHz. There are several types of MiFare cards. Logipix Ltd. uses Mifare Classic and MiFare Plus tags and cards.

MiFare Classic

The MIFARE Classic card is fundamentally just a memory storage device that uses EEPROM and safety RF communication. It enjoys widespread use thanks to its reliability and low cost. The memory is organized into sectors, and each sector is divided into 16-byte blocks. Each block uses two secret keys.

MiFare Plus

MIFARE Plus is a replacement card for the MIFARE Classic. Its data management is basically the same as that of Mifare Classic, but it prevents the mistakes of Crypto-1 encryption. The MiFare Plus card can have 2 or 4 Kbytes of memory, and supports 128-bit AES standard.
