Walk-DVR is a small triple digital video recording target hardware with low energy consumption. Compression and management of the background storage is performed by a self-developed signal-processing target processor developed for security application. Due to its design the device is suitable for establishment of temporary monitoring sites with low energy consumption. It can be utilized among others for monitoring in cars or sites without infrastructures. Images can be retrieved from the device by direct computerized retrieval in case of autonomous utilization, and by Ethernet interface, GPRS modem or fixed local network in case of online utilization. Each image of the video is compressed separately. The Wavelet-based compressing algorithm according to JPEG2000 standard provides high image quality. Compared to the widely utilized JPEG algorithm JPEG2000 creates images 3 times smaller, thus it allows three times longer recording time with the same HDD capacity. |
